Former Chatham School Board Vice-Chairman Craig Lisk died on Sunday

Norman Craig Lisk, Sr., 93, of 902 West Fifth Street, Siler City, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. Burial with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Chatham Memorial Park .

Northwood High School Arts Education Foundation presents 2009 Arts Scholarships

The Northwood High School Arts Education Foundation (NHSAEF) presented its second annual college scholarships to talented performing and visual arts students during the Northwood Baccalaureate Service Sunday on June 7. Recipients of the $1000 awards were Wilhelmina Cole, Travis Mann, Miranda Pister, Aubrye Carr, and Julia McClernon.

Chatham County Schools introduce new policy for renting school facilities

The Chatham County Board of Education plans to approve revisions suggested by the school board and Tharrington Smith, LLP and which have been implemented into the rules and procedures for facility rental.

Central Carolina Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training graduates 28 cadets

Central Carolina Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training programs in Chatham and Lee counties recently graduated 28 cadets. Eleven were presented diplomas during the May 20 graduation at the college’s Chatham Campus in Pittsboro. Seventeen received diplomas at the May 21 Lee graduation at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford.

North Chatham third graders recognized in Carolina Hurricanes essay contest

Five students from Alan Slavin's third grade class at North Chatham School were selected as recognized for their work in an essay contest sponsored by the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team. Each student wrote an essay about a book that he or she read including likes and dislikes about the book.

Northwood announces art show and National Art Honor Society induction evening

The ninth annual Northwood High School senior and student art exhibit will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Northwood lobby and cafeteria. Cake and punch will be served after the art awards

Northwood concert band to present 10th Annual Memorial Day concert

The Northwood High School Concert band is continuing the long-standing tradition of saluting everyone who has served or is currently serving in one of our Armed Forces. The concert is Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Benjamin Lee auditorium at Northwood High School.

Bynum Front Porch presents first of two scholarships

Bynum Front Porch, a non-profit community organization, will present the first of two scholarships to graduating Chatham County high school senior, Ashley Teel, on Friday, May 1 at the opening night of the Bynum Front Porch Friday Night Music Series.

Holiday Season at Northwood High

The Northwood Music Department presents it’s Annual Holiday Benefit Concert for our own Chatham Outreach Alliance (CORA) Food Pantry on Thursday, December 11 at 7 o’clock in the evening in the Benjamin J. If my kids were paddled in school I'd take a trip to that school and do the same to any of the school staff involved and see how they like it.
